Our fourth and final video interview of our climate interview series is with climate and economic policy researcher Olga Chiappinelli,  an expert at the Climate Policy Department at DIW Berlin.

“Green public procurement can create markets and incentives more easily in the short term – so while we wait for a strengthened ETS, national governments can take action faster”

Olga discusses the role of Europe and of the various policy instruments including GPP, standards, ETS, inclusion of consumption and incentives to push forward a greener and more sustainable market in Europe – when implemented in a progressive way, it can protect and benefit the most vulnerable populations in the EU. If you want to hear the full interview, here is a link to the podcast.

“We already know the technologies and solutions needed for the industrial sector to become carbon neutral by mid-century…we know the portfolio mitigation option. It is just not implemented because there are no incentives to do so”

This video interview is a part of an interview series with the various European stakeholders focusing on climate and the future of Europe. It aims to identify main obstacles as well as the potential solutions and ways forward – from voices we don’t hear every day. Interview by Ólöf Söebech and Louise Baduel.
